Capstone design project, involving designing a system to product bio-based fiber from algae extract. System included a custom-made syringe pump, 3D printed coagulation and curing bath, and spooling system. Entire project was designed, built, and tested from scratch, and was successfully able to create fibers used for crocheting. FEA was conducted on the syringe pump components to ensure strength requirements.
